A short briefing of Verse no 271 - 275

                 بِسۡم ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيم

Verse no 271

In tubdus sadaqaati fani’immaa hiya wa in tukhfoohaa wa tu’toohal fuqaraaa’a fahuwa khayrul lakum; wa yukaffiru ‘ankum min saiyi aatikum; wallaahu bimaa ta’maloona Khabeer

 If you give (your) alms openly it is well and good (in itself). But if you keep them secret and give them to the needy it is better for your own selves and He will (thereby) acquit you of some of your evil deeds. Allah is fully aware of what you do.

God wants you to know

In verse 271 of Surah Baqara from the Qur'an, Allah provides a significant teaching about the importance of charity and its effect on the soul. The verse conveys that while giving charity openly is commendable, there is even greater merit in giving it discreetly. This secret act of charity benefits the giver by purifying their soul and helping to cleanse their sins. Verse No. 272

Laisa ‘alaika hudaahum wa laakinnal laaha yahdee mai yashaaa’; wa maa tunfiqoo min khairin fali anfusikum; wa maa tunfiqoona illab tighaaa’a wajhil laah; wa maa tunfiqoo min khairiny yuwaffa ilaikum wa antum laa tuzlamoon

You are not responsible for their guidance to the right path but Allâh guides (him) who wishes (to be guided). (Believers!) Whatever wealth you spend (for the cause of Allah) it is to your own good, for you do not spend (it) but to seek the good pleasure of Allâh. And whatever wealth you spend (in doing good) will be fully credited to you and you shall not be treated unjustly.

In Surah Baqara, verse 272 of the Qur'an, Allah clarifies that guidance is entirely under His domain. This means that believers are not responsible for guiding others to the right path; rather, it is Allah who guides whom He wills. This highlights the divine nature of guidance and the limits of human influence in matters of faith and righteousness. Furthermore, the verse emphasizes the importance of spending wealth for the cause of Allah. It assures believers that their charitable expenditures ultimately benefit them. This serves as a reminder that the intention behind spending should be to seek Allah's pleasure, rather than expecting immediate worldly gains or recognition. God wants you to know that every act of charity and goodness done for His sake will be duly credited. This divine system of accounting ensures that no act of goodness goes unnoticed or unrewarded. The assurance of fair and just recompense encourages believers to continue their charitable acts with sincere intentions, trusting in Allah's perfect and just reward system. Finally, the verse highlights that those who spend their wealth on good causes will never face injustice. This profound reassurance aligns with broader Islamic principles of fairness and divine justice. Believers are encouraged to contribute to charitable causes with confidence, knowing that Allah is aware of their sacrifices and will reward them accordingly.

Verse No. 273

Lilfuqaraaa’il lazeena uhsiroo fee sabeelil laahi laa yastatee’oona darban fil ardi yah sabuhumul jaahilu aghniyaaa’a minat ta’affufi ta’rifuhum biseemaahum laa yas’aloonan naasa ilhaafaa; wa maa tunfiqoo min khairin fa innal laaha bihee ‘Aleem (section 37)

(These charities are meant) for those needy who are (so) confined in the way of Allâh that they are unable to move about in the land (for providing their sustenance). The person ignorant (of their condition) thinks them free from want, because of (their) abstaining (from begging). But you shall know them by their appearance (that they are in need). They do not beg of people with importunity. And whatever good thing you spend (for their help) Allah knows it surely well.

As mentioned in verse 273 of Surah Baqara in the Qur'an, Allah conveys that charities are especially intended for those who are confined in His service and cannot move freely to earn their livelihood. These individuals, due to their dedication to Allah's cause, are unable to seek sustenance through regular means. Despite their dire need, they refrain from begging, maintaining their dignity and self-respect. The verse underscores the importance of recognizing the genuine needs of such individuals. It warns that a person unaware of their true condition might mistakenly think they are not in need because they do not openly ask for help. However, their modesty and refusal to beg should not be mistaken for sufficiency. Observant believers can discern their need through subtle signs in their appearance and demeanor. Allah wants you to understand that the responsibility lies with the community to identify and assist those in need, even if they do not voice their plight. True charity, as emphasized in this verse, involves understanding and addressing the hidden struggles of those dedicated to Allah's path. It calls for deeper awareness and empathy towards the silent sufferers who choose not to reveal their hardship. Finally, Allah assures that any good deed done for the sake of helping these individuals is well known to Him. Every act of kindness and charity, no matter how small, is acknowledged and rewarded by Allah. The verse serves as a reminder that sincere efforts to support those who quietly endure hardships in their service to Allah are highly valued and seen by Him, encouraging believers to act with compassion and generosity.

Verse No. 274

Allazeena yunfiqoona amwaalahum billaili wan nahaari sirranw wa ‘alaaniyatan falahum ajruhum ‘inda Rabbihim wa laa khawfun ‘alaihim wa laa hum yahzanoon

Those who spend their wealth by night and by day (for the cause of Allāh) privately and publicly have their reward with their Lord, they shall have no cause of fear, nor shall they ever grieve.

Verse 274 of Surah Baqara in the Qur'an highlights the virtue of charitable giving. It emphasizes that those who spend their wealth for the cause of Allah, whether by night or by day, and whether in private or in public, will be rewarded by their Lord. Additionally, the verse reassures believers that they will have "no cause of fear, nor shall they ever grieve." This statement highlights the spiritual and emotional benefits of charitable acts. Verse No. 275

Allazeena yaakuloonar ribaa laa yaqoomoona illaa kamaa yaqoomul lazee yatakhabbatuhush shaitaanu minal mass; zaalika bi annahum qaalooo innamal bai’u mislur ribaa; wa ahallal laahul bai’a wa harramar ribaa; faman jaaa’ahoo maw’izatum mir rabbihee fantahaa falahoo maa salafa wa amruhooo ilal laahi wa man ‘aada fa ulaaa ‘ika Ashaabun naari hum feehaa khaalidoon

 Those who practice usury and interest, (their condition is such as) they will not be able to stand except like the standing of one who has lost his reason under the influence of satan. That is so because they say, 'Trade is just like usury and interest.' Whereas Allah has made trade lawful and made interest unlawful. Then whosoever has received (this) admonition from his Lord and keeps away (from usury and interest) he may keep whatever (interest) he has taken in the past. His matter rests with Allah. As for those who revert (to the practice of usury and interest) it is these who are the fellows of the Fire, therein shall they live for long.

In verse 275 of Surah Baqara in the Qur'an, Allah warns of the severe consequences of engaging in usury and interest. The verse graphically describes the state of those who partake in such practices, comparing their condition to someone who has lost their reason under Satan's influence. This metaphor highlights the deep moral and spiritual turmoil caused by engaging in usury.

Allah wants you to know that if you receive this warning and genuinely abstain from such practices moving forward, you may retain the interest already taken. Your repentance and future actions are what matter, and your ultimate judgment rests with Allah. This offers a compassionate path to redemption and emphasizes the importance of sincere repentance and moral integrity.

However, the warning is stern for those who choose to return to the practice of usury and interest after receiving this guidance. Such individuals are described as companions of the Fire, destined to endure its torment for a prolonged period. This stark warning serves as a powerful reminder of the dire spiritual consequences of disregarding divine commandments regarding economic transactions.
